On a national level, the unemployment rate Rose from 9.9% in 2016 to 10.2% in 2017, registering an increase to 14.7% in urban areas and a stagnation at 4% in rural areas.
The highest unemployment rates are found among women with 14.7%, young people aged 15 to 24 with 26.5% and graduates with 17.9%.
Between 2016 and 2017, the Moroccan economy created 86,000 jobs, 32,000 in urban areas and 54,000 in rural areas. In detail, 42,000 jobs were created in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector, 26,000 in services, 11,000 in the construction and civil works sector and 7,000 in the industry, including handicrafts.
