The unemployment rate rose 2.7 points between 2019 and 2020, from 9.2% to 11.9%, according to the HCP.

This increase, which concerned all categories of the population, is the result of an increase in rural areas to 5.9% and urban areas to 15.8%.

The unemployment rate rose respectively by 2.9 points to 10.7% for men and 2.7 points to 16.2% for women.

In total, the number of unemployed climbed 29% to 322,000 people, from 1,107,000 to 1,429,000 unemployed between 2019 and 2020.
